it’s just really annoying that black singers (and black women in general across all fields) have to constantly be in their prime to get any sort of respect. Like you see it time after time with not only Mariah but Ciara, Janet, Brandy etc etc. if these women aren’t topping charts constantly then they according to everyone else they are flops who don’t deserve respect regardless of their contributions to the industry as a whole. Black female artist have the shortest shelf life and have to somehow be at the top of their game no matter how long they’ve been in the game and it’s like so ugly.

pro tip: if you’re a black man and you see a black woman sharing her opinions and thoughts about the black men she has had encounters with, don’t be that clown that goes “well i’m not like that i love black women.” because it aint about you. and the fact that you “love” black women doesn’t negate that there are black men that do not. your valid does not negate her valid experience
